How to Cancel EA Play

EA Play is a subscription service for Electronic Arts games on PC and console. If you want to cancel your EA Play sub, follow this guide.

EA Play is a gaming subscription service from Electronics Arts. Previously named Origin Access, EA Play is the best way to play the latest EA published or developed games, from FIFA to Battlefield, without paying for the game upfront.

EA Play games are unlocked for a single monthly fee with no commitment. However, you can easily stop your subscription if you’re unhappy with the games on offer (or the subscription terms).

If you’re unsure how to cancel EA Play, follow the steps below.

How to Downgrade Your EA Play Subscription

There are two tiers of EA Play subscriptions—EA Play and EA Play Pro.

EA Play Pro offers early access to the latest games, exclusive in-game content, and a 10% discount on EA digital purchases. If you’re an EA Play Pro subscriber, you can downgrade your subscription at any point without canceling it. You’ll lose EA Play Pro perks, but you’ll keep access to the broader service.

To change or downgrade your EA Play subscription:

  1. Open the EA account page in your web browser and sign in.
  2. On the left, press EA Play.
  3. In the Membership section, press Manage.

  4. To downgrade your membership, press Change membership and select an alternative tier.

  5. Confirm your choice or press Go back to return to the previous menu.

How to Cancel EA Play on PC

EA Play has several different membership tiers, allowing you to play EA games through the EA or Origin apps, Steam, or on your console.

If you’re using the EA or Origin app, the best way to cancel your membership is through the EA website.

To cancel your EA Play membership on PC:

  1. Open the EA account page in your web browser and sign in.
  2. On the left, press EA Play.
  3. In the Membership section, press Manage.

  5. You’ll be asked to reconsider—press Back to do so or press Continue to confirm.
  6. Finally, EA will ask you to confirm why you’re canceling your membership via a short survey. You can fill this in or ignore it, but scroll to the bottom and press Cancel membership to cancel your EA Play membership.

Once you’ve canceled your membership, your subscription will remain active until your next billing date.

Canceling EA Play on Steam

If you subscribed to EA Play using Steam, you’d need to cancel it from your account settings.

To cancel EA Play on Steam:

  1. Open your Steam account from your web browser and sign in.
  2. In your account settings, select Manage subscriptions under Store & Purchase history.

  4. Select Cancel my subscription and press Apply to end your subscription renewal.

Your subscription will remain active until your next billing date.

How to Cancel EA Play on PlayStation and Xbox

EA Play is available for PlayStation and Xbox console players. If you want to cancel EA Play on these platforms, you’ll need to follow different steps for PC users.

Canceling EA Play on PlayStation

You can cancel your EA Play subscription on a PlayStation 4 and 5 from your account menu.

To cancel EA Play on PlayStation:

  1. On your console, open the Settings menu.
  2. In Settings, select Account Management.
  3. Select Account Information > PlayStation Subscriptions.
  4. Select your EA Play subscription, then choose to Turn Off Auto-Renewal.

Your access to EA Play will end at your next billing date.

Canceling EA Play on Xbox

You can cancel EA Play from your Microsoft account settings if you’re an Xbox user.

To cancel EA Play on Xbox:

  1. Open your Microsoft account settings from your web browser and sign in.
  2. Next to your EA Play subscription, select Manage.
  3. Press Turn off recurring billing to stop your subscription at the next billing date—you can turn it on again later.
  4. To cancel your subscription, press Cancel subscription and follow any additional instructions.

Enjoying Fun Gameplay on EA Play

The steps above allow you to cancel your EA Play subscription via the EA app, the older Origin client, or via your EA account online. You can also downgrade your subscription if you’re unhappy—or switch back to a free account. Any games you’ve purchased will remain available to you without paying a monthly fee.
