How to Add Emojis to Channel Names on Discord

Using emojis on a Discord channel

Do you want to personalize your Discord server? You could start by adding emojis to your otherwise boring channel list. Here’s how.

Don’t settle for a boring name for your Discord channel. If your server has a lot of channels, you can spice up a channel’s image by customizing the name with emojis. Emojis can help users quickly identify the purpose or atmosphere that a channel might bring.

Emojis can also help to make the server more visually appealing and engaging for users, providing a sense of fun and creativity that it might otherwise lack.

Follow the steps below to put emojis in a channel name on Discord.

How to Add Emojis in Channel Names on Discord on PC or Mac

If you’re using Discord on your PC or Mac, you won’t be able to tap a button on your keyboard and put an emoji in a channel name. You’ll need to use a few workarounds instead to get the job done.

To put emojis in Discord channel names on a PC or Mac:

  1. First, visit the Unicode Emoji list and find an emoji you want to use.
  2. Select it on the page, right-click it, and then press Copy.

  3. With the emoji copied to your clipboard, open the Discord app or web client.
  4. Select your server from the panel on the left.
  5. Hover over the channel name you want to edit and press the Edit Channel button.

Your emoji should now appear in your channel name. You can repeat this process to add other emojis. You can also repeat this process to delete emojis by entering the Edit Channel menu and deleting the emoji from the channel name.

Any changes you make will apply immediately and appear to all Discord server users on all platforms.

How to Add Emojis in Channel Names on Discord on Mobile Devices

It’s a slightly easier process to add emojis to Discord channel names if you’re using the Android or iPhone app—assuming your keyboard supports emojis.

If it doesn’t, you’ll need to visit the Unicode Emoji list in your mobile device’s web browser first and copy the emoji to your clipboard. You can proceed with the next steps if you’ve done that already (or if your keyboard supports emojis.)

To add emojis to Discord channel names on Android and iPhone devices:

  1. Open the Discord app on your device.
  2. Tap the menu icon in the top-left to view your server and channel list.
    Open menu on Discord mobile
  3. Select your server, then tap and hold your channel name.

  8. To save your changes, tap the Save button in the top-right.

As before, any changes you make will appear immediately for all users. Repeat these steps to remove the emoji from your channel name at any point by removing it from the Channel Name box and tapping Save.

If you’re having trouble changing your channel name on your mobile device, you can always sign in using the Discord web app on a PC or Mac instead.

Creating a Great Atmosphere on Discord

By using the steps above, you can place emojis in a channel name on your Discord server. It might seem like a small thing, but introducing emojis into channel names will add a bit of vibrancy to an otherwise boring list of channels.

Want to look at some other things you can try on Discord? Another emoji-related trick you can try is adding your own emojis to your server as another way to add some more personality.

Don’t forget that you can also export your Discord chat messages. This is a good idea if you want to keep a permanent record of some of your most important conversations on the platform.
