How to View Purchase History on Steam

Steam is a digital platform that allows you to purchase and play thousands of games. If you’ve had Steam for a long time, you’ve probably built up a large catalog of game purchases—some you might vividly remember, and some you’d probably prefer to forget.

If you’re unsure how to view your purchase history on Steam, follow the steps below.
How to View Your Purchase History on Steam
If you want to view your purchase history on Steam, you’ll need to sign in to your Steam account. You can do this via the Steam client on your PC or Mac. Alternatively, you can access your purchase history by logging in to the Steam website.
As the interface between both the client and the website and nearly identical, the steps below should work for both.
To view your purchase history on Steam:
- Open the Steam client or Steam website and sign in.
- Click your username in the top-right and select Account Details from the drop-down menu.
- Under Store & Purchase History, click View purchase history.
At this point, you should be able to view your purchase history for your entire Steam account. Every transaction you’ve made or received will appear here, including gifts and refunds.
Select the purchase name under the Items column to learn more about a transaction. You’ll be able to view the date, time, and total purchase cost for each transaction on the next page.
How to View and Download Proof of Purchase on Steam
If you’re requesting a third-party refund for an item you’ve purchased on Steam, you can do so through the Steam purchase history menu.
You might also want to do this to request additional support for warranty purposes. Alternatively, you might want to download the receipt for a purchase to claim it as a business expense (if you’re lucky enough to do so!)
To view and download a proof of purchase on Steam:
- Open the Steam client or Steam website and sign in.
- Click your username in the top right and seledt Account Details from the drop-down menu.
- Under Store & Purchase History, click View purchase history.
- Locate the purchase in your purchase history and click the name of it under the Items column.
- In the menu, click I would like to view and print the receipt for this purchase.
- Steam will generate a print-friendly proof of purchase receipt for viewing, saving, or printing. Steam will automatically redirect you to it for you to view.
If you want to print or save the proof of purchase, you should follow these steps in your web browser. From there, you can use your browser’s print option to save the item as a PDF file or print it using your local printer.
Buying Wisely on Steam
If you follow the steps above, you should be able to view your purchase history on Steam. It’ll go back as far as your account does, so you can check out the first game you purchased and the last.
If you have any problems, don’t forget to query the transaction on your purchase history page. You can always set up a Steam wishlist if you want to offer suggestions for games that others can buy for you in the future.
